Pure Metronidazole-25% Powder Animals Synthetic antimicrobial and antiprotozoal

PACKAGING

Plastic jars, bags of polyethylene film or laminated foil of 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000 g.

COMPOSITION

1 g of the drug contains the active substance metronidazole – 250 mg.

DESCRIPTION. Microcrystalline powder of white or light yellow color.

PHARMACOLOGIC ACTION . Synthetic antimicrobial and antiprotozoal drug, 5-nitroimidazole derivative. The drug has a bactericidal action on microorganisms, enzyme systems of which can recover nitro groups. Metronidazole breaks DNA replication and protein synthesis in microbial cells by inhibiting tissue breathing; easily penetrates into the cell of susceptible microorganisms by binding to DNA and interferes with the replication.

The drug is active against Trichomonas spp., Gardnerella spp., Giardia spp., Entamoeba histolytica, Balantidium coli, Lamblia spp., and obligate anaerobes Bacteroides spp., Helicobacter pylori, Fusobacterium spp., Veillonela spp., Åubacterium spp., Clostridium spp., Prevotella spp., Peptococcus spp., Peptostreptococcus spp.

APPLICATION. Treatment of dogs, cats and mink in case of diarrhea, caused by Campylobacter spp., ulcerous gingivitis, giardiasis, amebiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, anaerobic infections.

DOSAGE. Orally in a dose of 40 mg (10 mg of active ingredient) per 1 kg of body weight twice a day. The course of treatment – 10-20 days. In case of giardiasis dose of 100 mg/kg of body weight.

CONTRAINDICATIONS. Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy (first trimester), lactation.

PRECAUTIONS. Do not use in the first trimester of pregnancy. Applying  of the drug in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy is possible only when the expected benefit to animals outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

It is possible to  use during lactation but  the milk not allowed to use for offspring feeding.

SIDE EFFECTS. From the digestive system nausea, vomiting, absence of appetite , constipation, diarrhea; CNS and peripheral nervous system – irritability, sleep disturbances, depression, seizures, hearing loss, disorientation, loss of consciousness; of the hemopoietic system – leukopenia and thrombocytopenia; possible allergic reactions – skin rash, itching, hives.

STORAGE. Dry, dark place at the temperature from 0°C to 20°C (List B).

SHELF-LIFE  – 3 years from the date of manufacture.
